Anyone who has driven from Los Angeles to Las Vegas knows that Baker, California, is the last major rest stop on I-15 before reaching Sin City (about 80 minutes away). Located in the Mojave Desert, Baker is home to many of America’s favorite fast food restaurants, but at 72242 Baker Blvd lies the only real reason to exit the freeway … Alien Fresh Jerky. As you park your car, you will noticed a yellow vehicle that is parked in front of the store. Get a little closer and you will see a family of aliens that are waiting for one of their relatives to bring them some jerky!
What was once a tiny store, has recently expanded to a two-room enterprise. Choose from a giant selection of fresh alien jerky ($8), with flavors ranging from ‘Original’ and ‘Turkey Jerky’ to ‘Cowboy Jerky’ and ‘Honey Teryaki.’ Not a fan of beef jerky? The store offers a great selection of nuts, pickles and drinks (including Duff Beer and Donkey Kong Jungle Juice Energy Drink). Did I mention that they sell my personal favorite snack … alligator bites! I’m not really even what part of the alligator is used … but it’s delicious!
Don’t forget to visit the Alien Fresh Jerky gift shop where you can purchase various alien-related t-shirts and alien thermos mugs. The walls are plastered with new clippings of alien sightings and you can even get your fortune read for a few quarters by a talking alien [inside of an arcade-type machine].
Next time you are traveling to Las Vegas, be sure to stop by Alien Fresh Jerky. And if you unfortunately can’t make it to Baker, California, you can have the alien jerky delivered directly to you (alien may, or may not, be included)! Check out http://alienfreshjerky.com/ for ordering information.
