DJ Rossstar's California Adventures

I am not a big risk taker. I love my life and don’t want to put it inany unneccessary danger. This is the reason why skydiving, cliffdivingand bungee jumping are three activies I will do (regardless of how‘safe’ they might be). I received an offer to try indoor skydivingwith iFly at Universal CityWalk and gladly accepted. This controlledatmosphere was exactly what I needed to experience the ‘fun’ ofskydiving, without jumping out of a moving aircraft.
I arrived at iFly at 5:45pm. Promptly at 6:00pm, my group entered thebriefing room where we watched a brief tutorial on how to rest ourhands, legs and head during our skydiving experience (imperative handsignals included). The second step was getting dressed in the properskydiving gear: jumpsuit, earplugs, helmet and goggles.
By 6:30, we were ready to fly. The iFly skydiving experience actuallytakes place inside of a windtunnel. The windtunnel is located outside,so CityWalk pedestrians can watch in awe. As I entered the windtunnel,my heart started racing. The wind was blowing at 120 mph (actualspeed) and the only thing that calmed by nerves was knowing that theinstructor would be with me the entire time. I assumed the position(as if I was lying on my stomach) and let the wind work its magic.
The entire experience lasted nearly 2 minutes. At one point I managedto rise up, to what seemed to be, nearly 20 feet. I literally feltlike I was flying. It was surreal. I will be the first to admit that Idid a few accidental flips and taps a few of the cylinder walls. It’smy own fault for not following the instructions carefully. I don’t think I was THAT terrible at it … although both Kyla andthe two 6-year-olds managed to fly much higher and did not need asmuch assistance from the instructor.
In the end, iFly Indoor Skydiving is literally like nothing else youwill ever do … unless you actually end up going real skydiving …but I won’t be there!
